TFS Update 18th December '11

Hello,

I thought I would update you on the progress of Part 10. I have now gotten my crew back up and running, as in, my family :) and I am currently writing the script for Part 10.

My plan is to release the final episode of The Forgotten Spartans before Halo 4 is released, providing it isn't being released any time soon.

This episode is mainly story driven to finish their journey.

May the Spartans succeed.

Long time since my last update. T.F.S has not been even looked at due to certain issues with personal life. My Darknal account was also hacked into and lost that for a while. I have only managed recently to get it back.

I do still intend to finish the series but am unable to say when. My end goal will eventually be to make the last episode.

Anyway, when I hear something (in my brain) then you'll hear something.

Hello,

Due to the news about Halo 4 coming out and my really extremely fast Machinima making skills, it lies to doubt whether if I make a Reach Series, I will ever finish the Halo 3 Series.

So, as of this moment, I have cancelled my Reach Series and will LOOK to finishing the original story before doing ANYTHING else.

Reason for this is:

1. If I do not make many machinima's moving forward then it HAS to end with having a complete first series.
2. I want to conclude my original story so badly.
3. I can focus on another project once I am finished if I have the energy
4. You lot have followed me for so many years just to see how it ends.
5. I love you in an extremely Halo way and appreciate all your support throughout the series.
6. You still put up with the fact I have no spare time and yet you hope and wish me to finish the series.

Well, I will do my best in the time between now (No time) and release of Halo 4 to conclude the original story. Halo Reach is a good game and has some decent opportunities with machinima, but I want to finish the series in Halo 3, purely because the look of the Spartans, in my opinion, is better. Also, the engine looks totally different and do not want to ruin the T.F.S feel by using another game for the conclusion.

But my brother is in a band called Big Dogg and is nearly in the Final of the 'Live and unsigned' Competition.

With enough votes, they will get a chance to play in the Final at the O2.

Hello.

Firstly, please be aware that many questions asked are available via my blog under FAQ. Many are still valid so you should find your answers there.

Q: If you body acted in the forgotten Spartans beforehand do you get to body act in this :P

A: Yes. All current loyal body actors will have priority over new comers. Simple fact, I can trust them in all aspects. Doesn’t mean new people won’t get the chance to prove themselves.

Q: If it's just body acting, do you still need certain armor?

A: Yes. In many cases you will not need anything extreme, mostly ODST in the whole, but those available to offer the Armour needed for a given scene might be used to play a certain character for that scene. Though unlikely, keeps the options open.

Q: wait so you're doing the Reach series before part 10?

A: Sometimes Karl, you need to read my posts ;)

Q: what time does body acting normaly run from???

A: Body acting will usually be a Tuesday or Thursday, most likely Thursdays for the new series. The time is 7:30pm to 10pm as a max. It takes a lot of time to do online shoots and as each shot wont usually last long, there are many shoots.

Q: ‎1-Why did you decide to film Conan's story in reach (like you said in previous update) before part 10?
2-What about your current body and voice actors?

A: 1. Because I need something new to work on. Plus the fact it would be good to film Conan again, always my favourite to script for. 2. They will, as above, get priority over anyone else.

Q: What is the minimum rank your looking for? Because my current rank is Commander.

A: I suppose you need all ODST Armours as a minimum.

Q: Will people like Myself (Ninja Tiger) and Lord Brodie be coming back to act for you like in the first series of TFS? And after the Zenith Map test?

A: Answered ;)

Q: Will you finally expand this position to people outside of the UK? I know of the lag/latency/connection spikes, but this would be an "expansion" or "upgrade" to the series in a sense of who can participate and help.

A: A complex question. The reason to why I use UK servers for body acting only, is because of the lag/ Latency and connection spikes. Whole in one. This is very important to how it looks. Many scenes lag as they are all with good UK connections. I am sorry for those wishing to take part outside of the UK but it’s MY connection. Will not accept anything outside of the UK without latency when using 16 players. Just the way it is. You say Expand or Upgrade, but this has no affect on who plays the characters in the final shot. Whether your from America or the UK, you will still do the same body movements with the characters so will not change how it looks. I use outside of UK for everything else like voice roles etc so it is not a Nationalist move. It is purely for connection reasons. But you are able to apply for things like voice acting roles etc.

Q: I have to say I am disappointed that your not finishing the Series, before moving on to the nest game.
So Darknal, but it's just not professional which is your definition...
But hey not much I can do, besides a petition.

A: Not a question but fair enough. It was either change game or not finish the series at all. My life is so busy now that I get about 2 hours a week on a Thursday evening to think about it, which I have spent playing Reach to try and get to a decent rank for shooting. I will have a shift about in my schedule to try and make the Reach series a reality. Apparently I’m not professional by your definition, which is probably true, but the fact you enjoy the series that much to care I suppose is a compliment. I can’t please everyone, just the way things work.

A: 1.Brigadeir in under a bar.

2. No idea as of yet. Maybe 20, but they will be 5 minute episodes and not at the same scale as the movie.

3. It is going to be what T.F.S has always been, a squad moving from location to location during the invasion of Reach. The fact Bungie decided to do it for their new game doesn’t mean I’ll change the way I originally made mine ;)

Q: is T.F.S. done online or Landline?

A: Both. Online for big scenes and Offline for talk scenes, specific battle scenes and stunts that need a lot of co-ordinating.

Q: Have you still got parts going?

A: Not currently but am working on making more when I free up some time.

Q: when you say TFS Reach do you mean a branch of the story or just continuing TFS USING Reach

A: It is a branch of the story. In fact a prequel to the story before they find the ring. Set at the same time as the Reach Invasion itself.

Q: How are you going to tolerate the bland world known as "Forge World"?

A: I will try using all the maps accordingly for shooting, and will use whatever aspects they offer.

Q: ive been following this series ever since the first episode, and everytime a new episode that comes once an year its a disapointment, so fuck this.

A: Unfortunately, it’s the best I can do. If you decide not to follow anymore then I’m sorry to hear that.

Q: Is this series taking place after the original series and will have Darknal, Conan , Cosmic? Or are you planning to follow different protagonists?

A: It will follow the same Spartans before they trained in their Mark 6 Armour.

Q: Question. Are you only looking for UK actors are you interested in American?

Also, are visor colors and attachments/wrist/utlity favorable over armor (helment/body/knee/shoulder)?

A: Actors like body acting is UK only. Acting as in voice can be any country.

T.F.S Reach

Hello all.

I have decided I am going to make a T.F.S Reach.

Now, there is a LONG way until I even start but I'm going to throw a few roles out there that some people will be able to participate either by voice (only a few small parts going) or by body acting.

I will let you know nearer the time when you are able to apply.

But many people ask questions and not many get the answers so, if you have a question, please post it in the comments section, I will make a note of all the questions and answer them in an update next month.

It can be about anything, and I'll try all of them.

Hope your all doing well and ranking up in Reach so you all have the required amours when the time comes ;)

Chrisnepts has recovered some old files from his destroyed PC and needs some inspiration to continue the project he spent so long working on.

Hello.

Been a while since an update.

Things have been busy and as a result of certain issues regarding production in the future, the TFS Reach Series will not be in production at this time.

Instead, I will be looking at finishing the original series in Halo 3, this will be episode 10.

As things stand with things at the moment. I have no further information as to when this episode will be started or completed but early estimates that this will be 2012. There are some underlining reasons behind this and appreciate all your support.

This doesn't mean it's going to take a year to make. It means production wont be started at all at this time as certain members of my crew, internally, are not available, and with such a demanding series, I can't do it alone.

It will be finished, just not yet.

Zenith - Invasion Map

Please recommend it to your friends if you are a fan of it.

It is built for Invasion specifically but does support Invasion Slayer and BTB. Please bare in mind that if you do Invasion Slayer that you set the vehicle sets to NO Tanks as this map is not designed for tanks.

I will not be making any episodes as of yet. Firstly after the efforts went into Part 9, I am just enjoying playing Reach and catching up on family time. I will not be finishing the series until I have done my Reach series which is still TFS.

But, come Saturday or Sunday I will have an Invasion map I have been working on go live on my fileshare.

There will be videos showing the map in action. It is optimised for Invasion, but it also supports Invasion Slayer.

Hello,

Has been a while since an update. At this current time though there is nothing to update. Part 10 will not be made until my Reach Series is complete and my Reach series wont start until they have lifted the cap off the Ranks.

I try to not condone arguing on here. It seems people get a little heated when discussing their feelings. And please try and not post the same message up more than once. It really is difficult to shift through the meaningful messages with blatent spam on my channel. One message will suffice.

I am glad that the episode has been received so well. Machinima got it featured on YouTube as well as their channel and Xbox 360 World in the UK are going to publish the episode on their cover disc after the other episodes have aired.

Plus the thousands of emails rolling in of the love of the episode. Many enjoyed the Halo legend Tribute of Tamerlane's exit. Cosmic's "New" personality has pleased many of you and yes....... Conan is Flood.

I'm glad that so many have emailed with your praise, afterall, it is you that these episodes are made for.

Also to note, that I have now invested in a HD Capture Card, finally been able to afford one after Adult life and children have caused priorities to be..... redirected.

So future episodes will actually be filmed in HD.

Well, at this current time machinima making is at a stand still. But I will be getting onto things once I have milked Reach to a high level...

Hello all,

Yesterday was an amazing day for me.

The Episode is complete and is in the transfer stage as we speak.

What this means is, it has to be uploaded and processed after Machinima recieve it. This could take a day, or a week so all I can say is, watch out for my "ITS RELEASED" update to view it.

The episode has been split into TWO, due to its size. Part 9 A and Part 9 B. Remember when watching that both parts equal ONE episode, so please comment on the whole thing rather than each part individually. And yes, both parts will be released together. Part A is just over 10 minutes long and Part B is just over 18 minutes.

I do hope you enjoy the episode once it is released....

Until then I will try working on a Trailer but doubt I'll be done in time for release.

Hello fans and haters,

I have just over a week left to finish everything ready for the final cut. Everything is cutting it really close and had some technical difficulties earlier this week. All I ask is you "Cut me some slack or I wont release anything" because that is my "Opinion" on the matter, and if you don't like it. F - off!!!! and if you hate me...... I really care, as it makes me sleep at night if you all love me.... Seriously,,,,,, please feel free to comment in the most negative way possible, as it really helps boost morale, and I know that your opinions on my machinima's means so much to me.

Anyway,

To those who actually do give a damn, production is going ok, really trying to get it out for you guys in time so you can just enjoy Reach in the coming months making really bad Forge Maps.

If I can get a final cut done before my release, then I will try my hardest making a trailer.

Hello,

Production moving now. Got three MAIN shoots left then editing time. There's a lot to do and little time but think, I can do it. Release date currently is set for around 10th September LATEST, but I am trying to get it out before then. It wont be finished this month but maybe if I can work hard, get it done in the first week of September. Impossible you say? So do I, but there's a good chance I can pull it off.

But don't be alarmed, it will not be rushed. Just we have a structure and lots of shoots planned. Seniors will be expected to do some bonus shoots to polish it off, then its capturing the 8 hours of videos and editing them slowly and painfully.

Production going ok. Animation has been flying by. Only a few shots of Cortana I mean. Now, this is the issue, although TRYING to get it finished by Reach, I think there's a lot more that needs to be done than I think so option is, If it's not finished exactly in time for Reach, shall I delay release of the episode so that Reach doesn't cloud the extremely hard worked episode, or release it anyway during the hype of the best game thats ever going to be made?

Although I have my own thoughts on this, I would like to hear your views. Remember that Reach videos will be flying out, so a Halo 3 Machinima might not go down so well early on, so it might be worth delaying it slightly till the hype calms down.

Your thoughts please.

T.F.S Part 9 Update 13th July

Sorry about the slow updates, but hey, it's me.

Online shoots are back on and things are moving forward slowly but we are getting there.

I will try and release a trailer at some point but as there arn't any battle scenes properly filmed yet, it would be a pretty basic teaser. Upto you what you want, and it is by no means finished so don't expect too much.

I am trying to aim to release the episode before Halo Reach is released so this is the plan.

A few issues have been hit and production was stopped....

I am working on resolving these issues as quickly as possible...

T.F.S Part 9 Update 21st June

Long time since update, but have been moving quite smoothly so far. Just got the big scene's left to do which will take a while, and my brother Dave still hasn't started any animation yet so all that to do as well. Basically, the worst stuff till last....

But, getting there with the other scene's, still working on Cosmic's scene which was the first scene started and looks like the one that will take longest. Put it this way it took ONE WEEK to do a 1 second shot. Not there is reasons for this but things I think you will overlook or not think about. Basically you probably wont notice the work involved but seriously is hard.

Well the picture above has nothing to do with Part, just it's always good seeing something rather than a wall of text.

I'll try get something done soon for YouTube as a Teaser... Not a trailer.

T.F.S Part 9 Update June 9th

Hello,

Things are moving, a few online shoots have been done and still a lot to do, but some scene's have been coming together.

Some scenes that were started at the beginning, still haven't been finished due to these little touches (which you wont notice) that give the scene more depth and atmosphere.

Thus, in the not too distant future, I will release some screenshots via here and YouTube.

They will not be interesting as I do not want to give anything away but they will be something neitherless.

Also, on the right of my page is a Donation bar. This is more aimed at rich people that can spare some money but, although I have money, none of it can be spent on the series. I really am using T.F.S money on T.F.S which most goes on licensing etc, it would be a help for some people to Donate to help maintane the high standard of machinima that is made.

Darknal Recruiting for New Body Actors

Hello people.

Over time, people have strayed, gone offline, and some are just a little deluded.

I am now filtering out my friends list for new loyal body actors that can actually body act and respect the shoot.

I am also trying to filter out any individuals that want to be in TFS without actually knowing whats involved, so here's the score.

It is not fun, it is not entertaining, it is very long and boring that obviously will hopefully look awesome in the end but making them is not fun. Shoots are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30pm. Tuesday finishes at 10ish. Thursday will finish earlier.

You MUST have a UK connection and a good one at that. You can't browse the web or family members browse the web during these shoots. If your connection is RED, you will be replaced.

My most loyal subjects to date are MrTom, Handy 3000 and Chrisnepts who have raked in over 45 turn outs together. There are many more, but these guys are top. That is the loyalty needed. One show up wont land you in the Darknal Crew, but loyalty will get you there.

If you have what it takes to listen and walk around like a zombie on my sets, feel free to apply.

Some goodish news. My brother is now back on board so things will now slowly start moving forward. Obviously he's not doing anything too AMAZING, but it still takes time. Having tech issues in other departments but I'll get there eventually.

So, just awaiting two more voices so then can start editing some scenes as some offline shoots have been done, just need to capture them. Need to do ALL the ONLINE impossible stuff that will take a while plus editing it all. NIGHTMARE....

But, things are moving now so not all bad in that respect :)

T.F.S Part 9 Update May 11th

Well, the Beta is in full swing and many voices have been returned for TFS.

Huge issue was reached when this "impossible" thing that's going to be unnoticable hasn't even been tested as my brother is still working on his house, so all the important scenes are being left till last, which will also be the longest bit.

So yes, again as always, long waits ahead and with the ever closing date of the Reach release, ending the series on Halo 3, time is running out.

BUT, some offline scenes have been filmed and just awaiting the remainder of the voices, and I can start work on those. Then the online shoots will follow and the difficult things begin. Bad Times..

Ok, sorry for the bad news but what did you expect from me :)

The Forgotten Spartans Reach or Halo 3?

Hello,

I have been getting many messages about whether I am switching to Halo Reach, once the game is released and am I also using the Beta for The Forgotten Spartans.

The answer to this question is NO.

I am finishing the series on Halo 3, no matter how long it takes. Reason being is consistency.
I will play the beta to see my options for a new series I will be making on Reach. But,,, the continuation of The Forgotten Spartans will be completed on Halo 3.

Hope this clears some issues up.

On a note about the series, we are still working on creating the episode. No Chrisnepts, I don't think it's what you think it is, but we are doing difficult things. Things that you probably wont notice :)

I am attempting the impossible and its taking its time.. The script is finalised and the lines have gone out to all the voice actors. Just a matter of filming as I go, something which will not be easy, we are planning big things and are not entirely sure if we can pull it off.

BUT, if all goes to plan hopefully it will be a good episode. As it's the last episode of war before the story continues, we are trying to go big, not like we haven't already but you get the idea :)

Armour Accounts - Halo 3

Hello,

My brother is still sorting a few things out. I have also been experimenting with some effects that will now cause HUGE problems coz now I've gone for a more, quality in each shot I'm going to make causing each scene to take a while, you'll understand when you see it.

Anyway, rambling, what this post is about is, I need accounts that you will freely let go of that contain all of the Halo 3 armours (Not Recon) as I need as many accounts avaliable to shoot offline scenes.

This would mean giving your extra accounts to me in exchange for credit on the episode, so not your main account as you will not get it back.

T.F.S Part 9 Update

Hello.

I have finished the first draft of the script, which is basically final but will be tweaked as things go on.

As I am still waiting for my brother to get settled, plus the fact he has a baby due today also, I will be concentrating my efforts on offline shoots at the moment. Then once everything is finalised, be moving onto the more challenging online shoots.

I will get things in motion soon.

Good times. The Red Spartans name in Part 8 is Tamerlane (Voice actors choice, as all voice actors choose their own name to an extent).

T.F.S Part 9 Update

Hello,

It has been a while since an update and I am sorry for this. I have all the requests in about coming to mine for a shoot. The selected will be notified at a later date.

My brother Dave who does my animation e.g. Cortana - Space, has moved house and wont be up and running for at least a month. This is annoying as even once he gets started, it takes ages from there.

I will do my best trying to do everything I can and hope that Dave can do all the things I need him to do, otherwise I'll have unusable footage...

Either way, it's a set back for me also so I know it's annoying but soon we will have something to show you.

If you haven't already seen it, T.F.S has some new artwork. I will upload a higher quality version soon.

Meeting Darknal

Eight selected people will be able to meet me, Darknal, at my house along with Conan and Crippled Corpse (My brother who invented the character Librius) to participate in the filming of an offline shoot where Recon Armour is required. You will recieve a FREE DVD of T.F.S up to certain episode. You will need to bring a controller, headset and your gamertag, either by hard drive or memory card so that you will be able to use your Recon Armour.

As those who are selected may be young, your parents are welcome to come along and stay throughout the short shoot. I will talk to you about some of the making and answer any questions you may have. Autographs, although slightly weird, will be given to those that actually want one.

This will not happen for a long while but I need to get the eight selected before it does so that everything is ok and sorted.

Location you'd need to get to is Southend-On-Sea in Essex UK so do not enter if you are unable to attend or do not have Recon Amour unlocked.

People in my T.F.S Crew will get Priority.

T.F.S Part 9 Update

As someone has rightly stated, I should be updating you.

Current update is the script is half complete but I know whats happening, just have to put it into film format :)

Another issue is that Battlefield has just been released and is an AWESOME game which makes things very difficult :) Also, videos such as wedding videos, football videos I need to edit for people also take a lot of my time and unfortunatly need to get that done.

But rest assured, working on the episode and CONAN (brother) is sitting with me on our TFS nights discussing battles etc. My other Brother Dave who does the animation, Cortana and space scenes, is moving house so cant work on anything till he's settled, another set back.

I promise I'll do my best to get on it.

Trust me, I want to make it too :)

Hello people.

Slow progress on the T.F.S front, blame the Bad Company 2 and Alien Vs Predator Demo for that one..... Awesome times, although hope AVP is better in the full version.

As one of "Darknal's T.F.S Crew" a young member of my crew who has been loyal in turning upto shoots etc has been moved to Machinima and are showing his "Spartan Squad Alpha" series which Chrisnepts has based off my series 'The Forgotten Spartans'. Although this series is not linked directly to my movie, as he can only use the story I have already shown, I have done some voices for him for all his hard work in my episodes. Remember it's his story, not mine, and I do not work with him on his series, but am happy if he chooses to use my current story if it helps him become more successful in the Machinima world :)

As far as I'm aware, part 1 is up on Machinima's channel but I'm sure he'll comment this post and so you can click on his blog from here.

He is a much younger Director than myself and bare in mind his first episodes are mainly first attempts and his more recent episodes get better as he learns and improves his skills so I would ask for your support and I'm sure he'll be able to take on board critism and good feedback for taking the time to entertain Halo fans as I do.

Latest Statement

This is a recent statement I made to a question "Why don't you listen to people who criticise and acting on things people don't like, taking out things that shouldn't be there and adding things people do like?"

For those who know me and those who don't the statement below does not imply I'm a horrible person but just how far things have gone with the whole haters situation.

Statement:

"My last post is based exactly on that. As much as you might not think it, previous episodes have been made based on comments by fans. I have tried listening and implementing things to make people happy, just to come to the conclusion that not everyone will ever be pleased.

This is why I have made the decision of doing it my way as I watch my episodes for my entertainment, if people hate it, I don't care, as I really have given up on caring on critics opinions when it's obviously one of the "TOP" Halo Machinima's out there. The fact that OXM, Official Xbox 360 Magazine says its one of the most impressive machinima's means jelous kids who criticise without knowing anything mean nothing to me.

They will be made how I want them to be and follow the story I want.

People who wish to follow me and enjoy them for what they are can do so. Can't be bothered with the haters, waste of time.

T.F.S Part 9 2010 Info

Hello,

A little late but a new year, sounds almost futuristic, 2010 :)

Anyway, I will start work on the script in February for T.F.S Part 9, as you may have already guessed, the Spartans have joined the battle against the Elites in order to reach the Elites Command base on the other side of the ice wall.

So Part 9 will be another battle, but not just any battle, a battle based around the main characters of T.F.S. Every battle scene will have a purpose and it'll mean a lot more coming from the characters who you have tuned in to watch fight. This episode will also end the current story and a new story will take hold. Comsic has disappeared in a Hornet (not to escape the ring) but to commence his slightly shaken mind journey to do what 'he has to do'.

The filming for Part 9 will start when I have the script finished so I will start filming in March.

Don't be alarmed, it was only to be expected. The episodes completion is not a date I can set as it's purely based on the free flowing script writing and filming. As you know Post Production is the longest part, plus voices being returned in time so a lot needs to be done and if I only start filming in March, there is a lot to wait for.

But it is only fair that I give you this information as I know many of you want to know what's happening.

I will always say if I will not be making any others so if there is not a "To Be Continued" then the likely hood of me making another episode is slim, but there always is one (Apart from Part 3) so I will contine until the series stops how I intend it to be. If I am still making T.F.S by the launch of Halo: Reach, then the series will move over to that game.

I will be in touch with further information as of when I know myself.

T.F.S Part 9 information

Hello fans,

Now don't get me wrong - 99% of people love the episode, but we have been getting quite a few mixed reviews from OLD fans of the series. This could be the form it took from episode 6 when we took a new look on the series and some of the older fans enjoyed the style of the original 3 - 5. BUT, this episode was to try and get more indepth with the characters, introduce a few more to make it interesting, and we did our best to add the battle at the end, which wasn't intended in going in this episode.

A lot of people are saying it's cheesy, but the characters are suppose to symbolise something greater. They are suppose to be different from the norm, and so tried to add this feeling with the music, which gets mis-interpretated from 'Emotional' to 'Cheesy'.

With such information me and my brother are no longer going to try and please everyone. It seems in all our efforts, we try to do war, some people don't like, we try to add characters and story, and some people don't like.

So we are going to make the remaining episode(s) in the way in which WE want to.

We spent a lot of hours creating that episode and some people are just not happy to enjoy what we did. As a Director who creates movies to entertain, this can be a blow, but, with the idea's we had originally we are going to proceed with what we planned originally, and as we know we can't win everyone over, it's going to be done in the style we want and how WE think T.F.S Should be.

We will start work on Part 9 in the new year and I am greatful for all those fans that have watched my episode for what it is, and have appreciated everything you've seen.

I do hope that people start to see it for what it is as we are not going to change it for you. We are making the episodes how we want them to be, and if you so happen to like them, so be it.

But I am thankful of those of you that still accept what we release and get indepth with our story and characters.

Again thank you to all of you that helped make this a success, as this is what it is in my opinion.

Today is an exciting day for you and for me as it's the release of T.F.S Part 8.

Please bare in mind that the release will be from 5pm onwards till late, this is due to Machinima not being open till about 5pm UK time.

So please, no, "where is it". I do not know exactly when it is released but it will most probably be this evening.

Also bare in mind that this episode is MAINLY story, so Part 7 can't always be what to expect.

I don't want your hype blowing it out of proportion :)

T.F.S Part 8 Update

Short update for you all. Episode 8 is nearly complete and everything is looking nearly done. I have one more scene to add in and then am awaiting the animation from my brother. Whether the Animation is done in time is the only problem that could occur. If it's on time, the episode should be out when expected. If it's delayed (highly possible) the episode will be delayed.

The episode will be raking in over 20 minutes, something I hope is good news rather than a short one as it's been so long so it's basically 2 episodes worth rather than the one episode, so please class this episode double it's normal length for how long you've all waited.

I will update you if any bad news comes in, which I'm hoping doesn't. Good times.

T.F.S Part 8 Update

Hello....

I have been heavily working on overlay shots and editing most things I have shot.

The second half of the script is complete and some of that is edited already. Fast times..... At the end of this editing this 'what I have' phase, I will be doing a few more shoots online to fill some of the gaps then editing that into the final cut.

My brother Dave ran in to a few problems with the new animation and still at this point, is a very worrying concept, but I'm sure it will get done in time.

I am planning on having this episode out by 4th December. BUT, this is by all means NOT definate and as soon as I have a near final cut of the episode, I will release the official trailer.

Either way, things are coming along and moving nicely. Remember it is a story driven episode, but as this was the case, there are scene's of the more combat nature to tickle your tastebuds.

Good times....

Also, as Kootra, and GuitarmasterX7 have come onboard (names I think you know) just letting you know that episode 9 will feature DSF (DarkSpire Films) creators of Matchmaking naming one of their popular series. So the ever growing popular cast grows even further.

T.F.S Part 8 Update

Hello,

Production on Part 8 is still very slow. At this current time, we are still working on the animation for a large section of the episode (It's nothing special) but hard to do as I've already stated.

Plus we are adding in a tiny fight scene at the end but using scale and this takes a lot of planning etc. Each shot needs to be planned and as we are incorpriating vehicles into these shots, it takes twice as long to do.

Remember that I didn't start production on Part 8 till very late as I had another project in the works plus the summer was time out so only really got started.

It's not that I am not making it, as I am now, but wasn't earlier on.

I will try and update you with further progress soon, but currently working on some hard shots.

T.F.S in ODST???

Hello peeps.

I have been getting a few messages about whether I am going to use ODST for T.F.S. The answer to this question is "No".... I will not be using ODST for my series for a number of reasons. The main reason is the same as to why I did not use Halo 3 campaign for my series.

The other is because it is too limited. Firstly, it's all based on Earth. T.F.S isn't based on Earth and there are only 4 characters, the rest are A.I, I only like to do things if they are purely created by me. Vehicles, Men and Elites must be able to be controlled by a real person, not the A.I. The firefight mode would purely be 4 players acting out scenes based on what the covenant do. This doesn't bode well considering I am limited to how I film the shots, what happens in the scene.

I may as well play firefight with some friends and edit it up.

I will obviously use the Mythic map pack, but this isn't ODST, it's multiplayer.

Just so your aware, I will not be using anything from the ODST Disc for T.F.S and this is not why the episode is taking time. It's taking time because the animation we are doing is all being done by one person and when you see it, you will realise why it has taken a while. It's purely because doing what we are doing is extrememly difficult although it may not look like it...

Back from my holiday with my son. Amazing times as he enjoyed it so much.. Makes me happy :)

As Big Team shoots are very limited I have been working on the editing of the first half of the episode. Coming along nicely I would say. Very difficult as most of this episode is story and not much EPICNESS as many are waiting for. BUT, as this is a long movie, there will be episodes at a smaller scale and some episodes being big like Part 7. I just want you guys to know that this episode is based around the introduction of the Chief and taking the story further but still sticking to the core feel of T.F.S as you know it.

I am awaiting some animation from my brother Dave, who does all the animation for Ships etc although it's not a space scene he's working on, it's something else and this takes time, hense the huge delay in the episode being started. I needed to know it could be done before progressing with it. It might not be a lot to you guys when you see it, but this end, it's exremely difficult.

Then obviously we are doing some big team stuff that takes time and planning, but haven't got round to doing that side yet as I've been concentrating on more story based things at the moment.

But now the summer is over, I can put more effort into producing Part 8, which Part 9 will be straight into production as soon as I have completed Part 8. I don't want you guys to wait a huge ammount of time again, although, I can't promise anything with my schedule. It does break my heart that you guys wait so long and if I could I would do anything to be more commited but upholding my lifestyle is not easy and takes a lot of my time up.

Well, the first half is done and it is already around 8 minutes long so will be a long episode, but not full of the action you may hope for, but story for those who wish to see progression.

Hope the update will suffice.

T.F.S Part 8 Started

The voices came in, they were on vacation, can't hold that against them.

T.F.S Shoots started yesterday evening and so have started the process of filming. There is still half a script to finalize but I thought you would be happy to know it's kicked off.

I am on Holiday in just over a week and there is no shoot next Tuesday so no filming will take place for two weeks, but, this gives me time to finalize stuff and therefor can come back and commence the creation of Part 8.

T.F.S Part 8 Update

Hi guys,

Sorry about the long delay in EVERYTHING, but I took a huge break from making Machinima over the summer period plus the personal crap I had to deal with so I'll tell you where I'm at.

I still have only half the script complete, but there is a reason for this. I have filmed the first talk scene, BUT, many of my voice actors, who live abroad, haven't yet contacted me with their lines, plus I have no idea if they are on holiday etc so can't actually start making it properly until I know everyone is still on board. This is the only problem with using REAL people for doing other lines as if they don't come in, I'm a bit screwed.

So at the moment I am chasing some important lines down. If it turns out they arn't willing to do it anymore, I will need to try and replace the characters some how. BIG PROBLEM......

So I'll continue with the script and editing the first talk, and hope that things work out. If they don't I will need to re-write and scrap the whole of Part 8 as we speak and think up another way on continueing the story.

But don't be alarmed. I will definatly think of something, I just don't want to as I want to do what I originally planned....

The Forgotten Spartans "Inspiration"

Hello to everyone that loves T.F.S This update is not mentioning episode 8, really giving you an inside story to how I began the series and break down each episode so that you have an understanding to my thinking and maybe find out some of the answers that you would probably like to ask me. How it all began: I have been making Home Made movies for just over 10 years now and love it with a passion. I made my big home made movie called "Black Gold" a James Bond movie that was 1 hour 10 minutes long involving all my friends, it's not on the internet don't worry. A few years down the line and short movies was where I really just made movies because I enjoyed it, not all good but most on my channel on YouTube are old. I hadn't made anything for a few years. One night I was playing Halo 3 with my brothers and some friends and realised that the Theatre mode could be good for making a Short Movie about the Halo Story. Now, I hadn't seen any Machinima's at this point as I never really thought about it, looked on YouTube and saw many many Machinima's, most of which I actually thought were bad. I came across a few Machinima's that I actually liked but still thought to myself that I could do this, and thought I could do something better than some (not being big headed but there are quite a few bad ones out there). So, me my brother and a friend decided to make a Machinima. As I was used to action and just wanted to test to see if I could pull something interesting off, I thought I would go for a serious feel with maybe comical elements. There was me (Darknal) my brother Mike (Conan) and my friend Colin (Cosmic). We thought we would base the Machinima around ourselves as it wasn't going to be that serious anyway. I would do the voices to Darknal and Conan, and my brother did the voice to Cosmic. Reason Colin didn't do the voices was because he wasn't down often enough to play the part and it was easier for us to do all the voices. So, I began thinking of a story, but it was a basic story purely for entertainment. There are many mistakes with Part 1, things like Elites holding Human weapons, using the wrong grenades etc, but remember that every character you saw was only controlled by us 3 over Xbox Live. So I didn't know you could put guns down, didn't know that I could invite more people to help at the time. I also only had a video camera so filmed the whole episode by filming the T.V where I uploaded it to my YouTube account in 2007. The episode was a great hit. People write me comments saying I should do more and continue the series etc. I had only planned on making ONE episode, even though I said it was to be continued, this was not the case. BUT, everyone loved it so much they told me to make more. This is when I got some more helpers and did the second episode, Part 2. BUT, as YouTube could only take 10 minutes at a time, I had to break the episode into two parts creating Part 3, hense the cross over of scenes from Part 2 and why Part 2 seems so pointless. I then invested in a capture card and RE-DID the WHOLE thing. I already had the saved clips so I had to re-capture everything, doing all the angles again, editing all the scene's together again and re-did some of the talk scenes with the guns down, hense why Part 1 had guns lowered at the end talk scene. This method wasn't used for evey talk scene though hense BIG MISTAKES and a DODGY story line, that made sense, just wasn't invloved enough. I had finished the series after Part 3, that was where it was going to end, hense all their "Deaths". Machinima.com liked my series and took me on to host my videos on their page for more views and popularity. I made Episode 4 which was the Pre-qual and episode 5 which was the continuation of that prequal, linking the story back to Part 1 where the story began. This was done for two reasons, I wasn't fully sure how I was going to continue the story and realised that I had killed all the main characters. But, I saw some flaws in their deaths and developed a way of continuing the story. I knew I had to get bigger and better before making Part 6 so sat down and got more poeple involved where it was becomming more of a Crew than just random Xbox Live users. I brought in some more Voice actors that had better acting skills and tried to develop the series further. This is where I wanted a war. So episode 6 was a build up to an episode I had no idea how to approach. I invested in Adobe After Effects, very expensive, and used the tool Masking to create multiple shots. Part 7 was the biggest challenge EVER. I had scene NO Machinima's that had actually used masking to create an ACTUAL BATTLE SCENE, only build up scenes, but not fighting scenes. So obviously, I got planning. Every shot was filmed around 6 to 10 times with people in different areas of the map, I had to cut around each group frame by frame so that people could cross paths in the runnning shooting scenes looking like hundreds of Elites and Spartans. The rocket scene took the most time, and every rocket had to be masked, every explosion had to be masked and every group of Elites had to be masked. I can tell you now, this is not easy stuff. After Part 7 I took a HUGE break as it was so much work. Even now, I have only half a script written and a few lines returned. Do not think this is going to be a huge episode because it's not going to be like Part 7. It is going to be a story driven episode, just I havn't had the time. My week goes like this: Monday - 8am Work, 7pm Home, 7:40pm Football, Bed whatever time after. Tuesday - Work, 7pm T.F.S TIME Wednesday - Work, 7pm visit family Thursday - Work, 7pm Editing and check shoot time Friday - Work, 7pm Have my son. Saturday - With my son Sunday - With my son So as you can see, my week has two eveings of around 3 hours of those nights to do this. That's not a lot of time so things starting to move especially with summer is very difficult. I hope you have enjoyed this update and remember that I am working on Part 8. Just it will take time. Hello, The first half of the script is finished and the lines have gone out to those involved. This means that I can start shooting the story scenes (Offline) so then will start on writing the battles out in detail and shooting the scenes once all my TFS Crew are all available. Hi all,

I'm affraid the script is STILL not finished yet due to some unforseen circumstances in my personal life.

But, Part 8 will be made and I am doing my every efforts to make sure that the episode expands, especially as it will be the last....... (For this story line anyway :) )

People are saying they will unsubscribe etc if I don't make it but lets look at some facts.

1. I'm not after subscriptions, hense I post them via Machinima.com, it's views I care about and the pure reason is to get as many people to watch the series as possible so that it is liked all over the world lol, world domination as Bungie says, so unsubcribing doesn't affect me or make me make the episode faster.

2. If you unsubcribe, all your doing is avoiding the fact that you will NOT be told when Part 8 will be out and even then, you'll still watch the episode because that's what you subscribed for in the first place giving me your view and you cumming in your pants as I hope you will. If your a female, same applies.

3. Erm..... There isn't a 3 because the first two were so good ;)

On a serious note, I will make the episode when I can physically do it and right now, it will take a while. Eventually it will be made and the internet is SO BIG, that I'm sure that you guys can find ways to entertain yourself like,,,,,, Watch the series a million times getting me a million views.... Haha...... I got some bad news recently so my mind is else where, but rest assured that the script will be done and filming will hopefully follow.. Editing... Well, that's the hard bit lol.....

Either way, I appreciate all your patience, I will however do my best to update you as production continues. Please don't hate mail me, it only slows me down. To all those that tell people to be patient, good on you... That's a true T.F.S fan. Well, I appreciate it anyway....

P.s. Green guy in Part 7 is Master Chief, not Conan... Armour and voice should be clear enough. Yes I know the Chiefs green is slightly off but depends on the level what looks best. As you know, the multiplayer doesn't offer the true Chief Green.

Hello very annoyed patient fans.

Whilst my other project was not related to anything video, I am happy to announce that I can now start work on the script for part 8.

BUT.... My Xbox 360 has 3 Red Rings and is currently being fixed, means more time to work on the script for Part 8.

Just so you know, Part 8 will be taking more of a back seat to the greatly popular Part 7, but this does not mean we are holding back on purpose, just how the story goes. Some episodes will be character driven and some will be FULL OUT WAR. Just Part 8 wont be. But it's about time that I get back to the core of the whole movie.

So, I will start work when possible, but this does mean a wait from now as I haven't even started work yet.

I hope that waiting hasn't been too hard and if not, then you can do it again. :)

Well, I will keep you guys updated as soon as I have any further information.

Q: Why am I using Green for the Chiefs colour?

A: As people should know, they do not offer the correct Chief green in the multiplayer. After I have finished editing the episode, I also apply a video filter changing the contrast and some other aspects to the video, this causes the Green to become more bright. If I were to use the Sage as others suggest, this causes his amour to look more white than Green. So the only solour that works in my machinima is Green and I hope that you as viewers can over look this gripe Bungie gave us.

Q: How many parts will there be in The Forgotten Spartans?

A: I have no idea how many parts there will be as I have the story in my head, I have noticed that it's taking many episodes to explain the story and move forward whilst trying to provide amazing battle scenes. I originally had 3 planned at the beginning but then continued the series to where it is today. I thought that I would make 10 episodes in total but it could only be the 8 I need. Either way, if the series continues, it's not a bad thing really is it? But I will answer the big questions soon.

Q: When will the next episode be out?

A: If I do not update my blog from the previous post then the previous post still stands. When work has started on an episode, I will let you all know. Best thing to do is to check this blog every week or so to see if I have posted anything new. If I haven't then I have not started work on the next episode. I know that a lot of you are getting fustrated with waiting and I am sorry for that, but you need to look at my work as a film release. Sequals to movies don't come out every month, and the work that needs to be done on each episode (plus the fact I have a family) means that there are long delays between each episode. I hope that you appreciate these facts and just think of my Machinima as something bigger than a series. This way you don't expect it soon.

Q: Can I be in The Forgotten Spartans as an extra?

A: Currently at this time I have all spaces filled. The reason to this is because I have devised a Big Team Crew over the shooting of T.F.S and so will not be recruiting anyone at this time. This is nothing personal to anyone. Another issue I have to work with is lag, this is usually helped by using connections that are close to mine, i.e. UK servers take priority. This does not mean that I pick UK servers because I am from the UK, this is purely because lag is less when hosting a lobby of 16 players blowing everything up.

Q: How do you get so many players on one map?

A: There are no mods or special privileges that I know about to create what I have created. I used a maximum of 16 players at a time. Each shot you see was done around 5 or 6 times each in different areas of the map, then using a very expensive programme 'Adobe After Effects' to overlay each clip together using a tool called 'Masking'. You can check tutorials on advanced matting on YouTube. If you were going to use Mods, which I have no idea about, I think that bots only stand still and cannot run towards each other or fire. I am also aware that their weapons are chosen for them etc and so do not get a choice what weapons they hold. Sony Vegas can also do matting although I am unsure of the advancement it goes as I do not use this programme.

Q: Is that Master Chief or Conan at the end of Part 7?

A: If you have completed Halo 3 on Legendary and if you have been a true fan to my series throughout, you would be able to tell exactly who the end character is. If anyone also had an ounce of effort, you would also be able to read the credits which explains exactly who voiced who so will list the characters name. I am concerned that so many so called fans do not even check the credits to who actually acted, voiced etc.

It's very important that you keep an eye out on credits as they can give you the information needed. Fans would also realise that Conan's colour armour and his voice are very different from the Chiefs. Conan was not completed green and I'm sure that a big point would have been made out of his death before showing him coming back. I am not annoyed, just if people are unsure, they should probably pay attention to the plot more.

The Forgotten Spartans Part 7 is now complete FULLY. I have sent it to Machinima and unless there are technical difficulties, it should be out latest FRIDAY 17th APRIL.

So check up occasionally in case it's released early, although with the Bank Holidays, I'm sure Friday is more realistic.

I came across a very well put together music video for The Forgotten Spartans that I feel I should point out. Song goes very well to the series and his efforts are much appreciated in this instance.

T.F.S Part 7 Post Production

Hello ALL.

Last night I completed the filming of Part 7, which was celebrated by me being ill for two days.

BUT.... Now I have started post production which, for all those unfamiliar with the term, means that editing, sound effects, music and polishing is done, including capturing. You'll be happy to know that the main battle scenes have been edited already and am working on the talk scenes that fit the movie together, then will be re-going over the whole film over and over again to check for things that need changing etc.

I am sure that you will all be happy with the finished product and with such have faith that once you have seen it, you'll understand the length and time put in by me and all of my T.F.S Crew.

I have to thank my Big Team Crew for ALL of their hard work. Their dedication and consistancy has paid off and owe the epic scenes to them. But obviously the real work comes in, in post production.

I will update you on when the movie is finished and you will not have to wait too much longer now, so thank you for all your patients and I will update you nearer the time.

Hello patient (I think) fans.

I am currently half way through making T.F.S Part 7, I'm affraid with the things we are attempting, its extremely difficult to make this episode quickly and its not just as basic as an easy mask these days.

So, just so you have something to look at, I am going to release a short advert so that you can have some idea of what to expect.

Remember that the movie is only half done and so don't expect anything soon. Just wanted to let you know that I will be releasing an advert.

Hello. People are asking many questions about Part 6. If people are that bothered then they should come here and I'll answer the basic questions although I won't give too much away lol.

Question 1: How did I get so many people on the same screen in Halo 3?

Answer: I have not modded the Xbox and you can only have a maximum of 16 players in the lobby whether it's system link or online. There is no way of getting that many players onto the server, unless there is a way of modding which I am unaware about.

I purely use 16 players then manipulate the image by shooting people in different areas of the map then merging them in. I wont go into detail about that though as the process takes forever and over time if you are a film editor, you will learn the best ways to achieve these results.

Question 2: When is Part 7 coming out?

Answer 2: Part 7 is not in the process of being made right this second but if my Machinima says "To Be Continued" at the end, then there will be another one coming. Apart from Part 3 where the series was going to originally end lol.

If you want updates on Part 7 then just check this site every now and then and if there is no update, then I don't know myself so you will have to be patient. There WILL be a Part 7. Thank you for your time and I hope that most of you have had the main two questions answered.

Hello followers.

I am sorry to announce that the production has had massive issues and so with that, the delay of the release. Rest assured that production is still going on and that it should be ready to start the New Year. I am sorry for any problems caused and I know you have all been waiting AGES but I didn't know that Christmas would be so busy for me.

Also, things have been hard in production. A lot of connection problems meant that shoot days took longer than expected and so have much more scenes to do. As you know, I want to make this large scale so things are just taking too long. Please be patient and here is a shot from Part 6 to give you a little taste.

Hello all, sorry for the delay. Been busy building up to Christmas. Production has once again commenced and script lines are nearly in completion. There is a lot to do and so little time and so am hoping to get Part 6 to you all before Christmas.

I'm sorry it's a little slow moving but when the festive season is over, production will continue quicker etc, it's just that time of year. Well, I'll be working on bringing you the next installment.

Well, stay tuned about how it's getting on and I am planning on filming the scenes soon so hopefully editing can start etc so that it's to you by Christmas, although, it has nothing to do with x-mas.

The release date for The Forgotten Spartans Part 5 is set for Monday night in London time, pushing on Tuesday. This will also include the re-release of Parts 1,2 and 3 in high quality on YouTube. I am sorry for the delay in this episode but had a few issues with the Friday launch. Of course it would have been better for the weekend but as there were technical difficulties with the sound we have had to move the release date to the beginning of the week. The Forgotten Spartans

The Forgotten Spartans is a Machinima about 3 Spartans who were left on one of the Halo rings. (Not based on the actual Halo Story). Their mission is to find a Hornet that was left on the ring whilst trying to unravel the mystery to their abandonment.

As the series develop, things become a bit more complicated and the Spartans run into a bit of trouble.

This blog is where you will be able to keep track of production, post comments and talk about your feelings on the series as it develops.
